Patty Martin is a fifth-generation Californian artist working primarily in oils and acrylics. After a long career in nursing, she returned later in life to a childhood love of drawing and painting and developed her practice through independent study and years of painting.
Her representational work is influenced by Impressionism and inspired by the landscapes, coastlines, gardens, animals and everyday subjects that capture her attention. Light and color are recurring interests in her work—from the changing atmosphere of the California coast and desert to the unexpected beauty of fruit ripening in a garden. Her paintings are less about recording a scene exactly than about preserving what made her stop and look in the first place.
Martin's work has been selected for local and online juried exhibitions. She is a member of LELA International and California Creative Arts.
